Feasibility of implementing a first aid course for secondary education students in Venezuela
Publicado
2026-05-04

Background: First aid training within the school context constitutes a fundamental strategy to reduce response time in emergencies and strengthen the resilience of the educational community. Objective: evaluate the feasibility of implementing a physical and psychological first aid class for third and fourth year students of secondary education at the San José de Tarbes-El Paraíso School, in Venezuela. Methodology: a feasible project design with a projective level and quantitative approach was adopted, through a non-experimental and transversal field design. The sample consisted of 98 students to whom a 17-item questionnaire distributed in five dimensions was applied. Results: 84.69% of the students perceived the absence of accessible information on first aid, 86.73% denied the existence of material resources and trained personnel, 90.82% lacked knowledge in physical first aid and 87.76% in psychological first aid. Despite this deficit, 90% expressed agreement with the creation of the chair. Conclusion: the first aid chair is viable and necessary in the institution studied, supported by high student acceptance and confirmation of technical, operational, economic, legal and social feasibility.
