Sistema pictotea: estrategia de comunicación para niños con trastorno del espectro autista

Pictotea system: a communication strategy for children with autism spectrum disorder

La comunicación en niños con Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA) presenta desafíos significativos. El objetivo de este estudio fue establecer estrategias educativas de Comunicación Aumentativa y Alternativa basadas en Pictotea para mejorar la comunicación funcional en niños con TEA. Se empleó un enfoque mixto con un diseño descriptivo-propositivo. La población fue de seis niños de 4 a 6 años de un centro de estimulación en Potosí, seleccionados por conveniencia. Se utilizaron como instrumentos una guía de observación y una entrevista semiestructurada. Los resultados evidenciaron dificultades en la comprensión de instrucciones y expresión de necesidades. Se concluye que la implementación sistemática de Pictotea favorece la comunicación funcional, reduce conductas desadaptativas y promueve la autonomía en niños con TEA, constituyendo una herramienta accesible y efectiva para la intervención temprana. La propuesta contempla diez actividades estructuradas que integran pictogramas digitales en rutinas cotidianas.

Communication in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) presents significant challenges. The objective of this study was to establish educational strategies for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) based on Pictotea to improve functional communication in children with ASD. A mixed-methods approach with a descriptive-propositive design was used. The population consisted of six children aged 4 to 6 years from a stimulation center in Potosí, selected by convenience sampling. An observation guide and a semi-structured interview were used as instruments. The results showed difficulties in understanding instructions and expressing needs. It is concluded that the systematic implementation of Pictotea promotes functional communication, reduces maladaptive behaviors, and fosters autonomy in children with ASD, constituting an accessible and effective tool for early intervention. The proposal includes ten structured activities that integrate digital pictograms into daily routines.
